PHOENIX Months after Arizona s largest county received its first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, more than 1.3 million Maricopa County residents have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the shot of hope. That number represents nearly 40% of all residents over the age of 15 according to the county.
To date, only 14.8% of people eligible for the vaccine in the 85009 zip code have been vaccinated ....

MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) announced in a release Wednesday that it has identified which essential workers will be prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The plan still depends on vaccine availability, but the MCDPH hinted that its supply will grow as the agency begins distributing the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week.
According to the release, the list of newly-eligible workers includes those the MCDPH has determined are likely to be at the highest risk for work-related exposure to COVID-19 because their work-related duties must be performed on-site and/or involves being within six feet of co-workers or members of the public. ....

Arizona's age-based vaccine rollout for now is inconsistent


Arizona s abrupt switch to an age-based COVID-19 vaccine rollout this week means some people 55 and older can get vaccinated, but that change is not consistent statewide.
The new model is a hybrid. While the state is now emphasizing age-based vaccination, counties have the job of prioritizing the vaccination of front-line essential workers and vulnerable communities as they see fit.
It s a simpler process, with the switch influenced by the decision that an age-based approach more quickly reaches the most people at higher risk.
An age-based approach also eliminates figuring out how people would have to document their underlying health conditions to qualify. ....
