Feb 11, 2021 MARQUETTE, MI – Robert Edward Kimball, age 86, of 1155 S. Vandenboom Road, Marquette, left this world on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Robert was born April 14, 1934, in Lincoln, Maine. The son of the late Harold E. Kimball and Alice A. (Powers) Kimball. Robert joined the U.S Navy at age 17 years and served as a radio operator for the Atlantic Reserve Fleet during the Korean War. While on assignment in Charleston South Carolina, he met and married Darlene Dorothy Pollock on April 7, 1955. Then on April 13, 1955, Robert received honorable discharge from the Navy to begin his life with Darlene. In September 1959, the Kimball family relocated to Marquette Michigan in connection with Robert’s employment with the federal government. It was at this time the Kimball’s chose to make a permanent home for their family in Marquette. ....
Anthony Kerekes MARQUETTE, MI – Anthony J. “Tony” Kerekes, 49, of Marquette, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 19, 2020, surrounded by his family, at his home. He was born March 28, 1971, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of Joseph and Kathleen (Hubscher) Kerekes. The family relocated to Marquette in his youth and he attended Marquette schools and was a 1989 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. Years prior, Tony had worked at the former Johnson’s Sports Shop, the former Garden Room and the former Do It Center. He played hockey, baseball and wrestled. He had a deep love of sports and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Indians, NMU Wildcats, and Marquette Redmen. After an afternoon of cruising the Westwood Mall he would make his way next door to Big Daddys to watch the Passion Girls perform. He loved music and could sing most songs word for word, enjoying singing on stage on karaoke nights. ....
Dec 16, 2020 CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. Ben Brow, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. He was born on June 25, 1992 in Marquette, the son of Ronald Jr. and Jane (Jensen) Brow. Ben touched the lives of many throughout his 28 years. Ben was raised in Marquette and was a 2010 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and graduated from Alma College in 2015 with his degree in education. As a youth, Ben discovered his love of music, singing and performing. He started in theater at age 11 with the City of Marquette youth theater performing in the musical Oliver, and went on to perform in many plays and musicals with the group. He continued to perform in high school, with his final performance in Seussical the Musical. In that play, he played the part of Mr. Mayor wearing a, now infamous, yellow suit jacket. The jacket became a favorite of his, and it remained a treasure ....

Dec 15, 2020 MARQUETTE Ian William Parkkonen, 17, of Marquette, has earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award. Parkkonen is one of only approximately 6 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank. Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community service project to earn his Eagle. Ian has been in Scouts since the age of 6 and is an alumnus of local Pack 308. Currently, he is a member of Troop 302, chartered by Superiorland Kiwanis. He is an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Marquette, employed at Subway, and is an Honor Roll student (senior) at Marquette Senior High School. ....
