TUPELO ⢠Mike Bryan, the councilman for the cityâs Ward 6, will not campaign to become the cityâs next mayor and instead will run for re-election to the City Council seat he currently holds. Bryan, 57, told the Daily Journal in August that he was considering running for the cityâs top executive office, but now says that after consulting with family and concluding that several projects in his ward are ongoing, he wants to see a steady leader continue to represent the 6th ward at City Hall. âI am humbled at the encouragement and support for mayor Iâve received, and I have given it a lot of thought,â Bryan told the Daily Journal. âAt this time, I feel like I can serve better on the legislative side instead of the executive side.â ....

He said that one of his core priorities would be to ensure economic growth continues in Tupelo and that the city maintains good working relationships with federal and state officials. ....

The council also voted to transfer around $4.3 million in excess revenues from the cityâs general fund to the cityâs capital plan, which is a portion of the cityâs budget used to invest in larger or long-term projects. ....
