STAFF and residents at Ashcombe House care home were delighted to present a cheque to a young boy with spinal bifida, to fulfil his dreams to own a bespoke red trike. Residents learnt of Oliver’s story in the Gazette and wanted to know how they could help make Oliver’s dreams come true. Barchester Healthcare run a staff lottery which not only gives employees the chance to win cash prizes but it is also an opportunity to support charities. Every month at least 45% of all proceeds are donated to a charity or community project. The residents were delighted when they received news of the approval to donate to Oliver’s Trike fund, a cause that became close to their hearts. ....
A BASINGSTOKE care home got into the Christmas Spirit after Santa Claus himself visited the residents. Amid a busy schedule of delivering presents around the world during a pandemic, Saint Nic managed to take an hour or two out to visit Ashcombe House in Worting Road on Christmas Day. The Christmas party also saw a festive buffet, games, festive bingo and a raffle. General manager, Louise Lambert said: “We’ve had a year like no other so we wanted to really spoil our residents and give them an extra special treat, all presents were hand selected for each resident and the shocked faces to see Santa made the day even better. We’ve all had such fun letting our hair down today, and it is clear that everyone really enjoyed the day.” ....
