The ongoing pandemic, mandated plant closures, job losses and shuttered retail stores all contributed to a sense of uncertainty. But there were relatively few changes in the makeup of this group of 300 companies. There were some major consolidations that were completed in the past year, but our editors identified only three companies that closed in that time. In 2020, sales for the FDMC 300 group of companies reached $57.883 billion, actually a slight gain of 1.25 percent over the previous year. It was not a good year for store fixture and retail display manufacturers as many retail stores closed for weeks or months during the pandemic. Some have closed permanently. Makers of residential furniture also suffered as retail furniture stores were shuttered, but many reported a strong rebound in sales in the second half of the year. New animal hospital opens in Grand Junction. Local veterinarians are bringing more options for animal care in Grand Junction. Dr. Mark Ryan, Dr. Justin Seely and Certified Veterinarian Technician Miranda Schroeder have opened Monument View Veterinary Hospital at 1673 US 50, near Duck Pond Park. The new hospital will specialize in small animals. Ryan and Seely, both Western Slope natives, have decades of experience combined. Ryan founded Redstone Animal Hospital, at 2582 Patterson Rd. Seely, meanwhile, began working with horses before moving to his own small animal practice. âIn establishing this new hospital, we want to use our experience and passion for pets to provide a complete array of high-quality pet care,â Seely said in a news release. âAs a non-corporate, locally-owned practice we have the flexibility and autonomy to give our pet families highly personalized health care in a safe and comfortable environment.â ....
