When Grand Traverse County Commissioner Ron Clous flashed his rifle while a resident spoke at an online public meeting, it caused an outcry in the community.
Now the resident, Patricia MacIntosh, is
suing the county and Commissioner Clous in federal court. She argues Clous threatened her, and now she’s too intimidated to speak at subsequent county government meetings. She says that violates her First Amendment rights.

A Michigan county commissioner is facing calls to resign after he pulled out a rifle at a virtual public meeting after a woman asked the Michigan Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners to denounce the Proud Boys. Resident Keli MacIntosh was expressing concerns about members of the right-wing militant group speaking about gun rights at a meeting back in March when Grand Traverse County Commissioner Ron Clous flashed the gun in response, the Record-Eagle reported. ....

A Republican county commissioner in Traverse City in northern Michigan picked up a rifle and held it in front of his webcam in response to a woman asking the county to denounce the Proud Boys during a live-streamed public meeting.
Around 100 people have signed a letter calling for Grand Traverse County Commissioner Ron Clous and commission Chairman Rob Hentschel to resign after the incident.
The author of the letter, Traverse City lawyer Michael Naughton, told the
Traverse City Record-Eagle that “a public official acting in a public capacity brandishing a weapon to a person making public comment is anathema to our Constitutional rights . ....
