Jamaican woman now one of Trinidad's most celebrated nail techs

Keneisha Riley is one of the most sought-after nail technicians in Trinidad and Tobago.
In 2011 she left her native Jamaica in search of better job opportunities.
While excited by the prospect of creating a better life for her family, she was filled with trepidation when she arrived in the twin island republic on March 7, 2011.
She told Loop Caribbean: “Leaving my family was definitely a difficult task. My first couple of months were tremendously challenging as I had no family, no job and limited money.”
Riley, as she’s known to friends and clients, said she was promised a job before arriving in Trinidad but it never materialised. ....

Dalton Harris, OMI, George Nooks for 'Musical Conversation' - Virtual concert aims to give back, entertain | Entertainment

In a pre-COVID-19 era, Digicel Rising Stars finalist Jodian Pantry would by now be putting the final touches to her annual New Year’s Day concert staged in Clarendon, ‘Gospel Tenacity’. The event won’t see the light of day on January 1, 2021, but Pantry is undaunted and refuses to buckle under the pressure caused by the pandemic. Instead, she has opted to go the virtual route, with a concert titled ‘Musical Conversation’, to be streamed on Christmas Day and again on December 26. And, as usual, she has the support of her wide circle of friends in the music industry.
For this concert, Pantry has assembled an interesting mix of entertainers, including an aggregation of former Digicel Rising Stars (DRS) competitors. Among them are Rising Stars and ‘X-Factor’ winner Dalton Harris; Sherlon Russel, 2019 DRS winner; Jody-Kay James, 2015 DRS winner; Nickeisha Barnes, DRS finalist; OMI, Jamila Falak, Sheldon Shepherd of No-Maddz, George Nooks and 12-year-old Maylyn Dillo ....

Jahniel Bailey
For Sandra Smythe, the only Christmas gift she wants is to be reunited with her daughter Jahniel Bailey, who has been missing for almost three months.
The 35-year-old went missing in September after leaving home in Whitehall, Westmoreland, for a nearby shop to get something to eat. According to Superintendent Robert Gordon, commanding officer of the Westmoreland Police Division, Bailey was last seen by a fisherman at West End in Negril.
I m just looking, wishing and holding in faith that I see her come through the gate, said Smythe, 55. The wave of farmers market which flooded the country in the first quarter of the country, including innovations such as the Drive-Thru Farmers’ Market at the Agricultural Marketing Corporation (AMC) at 188 Spanish Town Road, has practically dried up and some farmers are hurting.
Agro-Investment Corporation (AIC), which hosted that event in April, got high marks for its packaged deals which saw combinations of fresh vegetables, fruits and produce, priced at $1,000 and $1,500, as excellent deals for consumers, who were spared the hassle of going to the market. Clarendon business brisk despite Effortville crackdown

A policeman stands guard on Main Street, May Pen, as commuters make their way through the Clarendon capital on Saturday, December 19. The May Pen shopping district will see increased police presence throughout Christmas under Operation Surge.
Business interests in central Clarendon are projecting a positive sales outlook in the lead-up to Christmas despite a rash of murders triggering a major police-military operation since last Friday.
The epicentre of the midweek violence was Effortville, where five murders were committed over 24 hours as a dispute reportedly sparked by a dispute over a motorcycle boiled over.
Security forces flooded Effortville and flanked its outskirts late Friday as a 96-hour curfew took effect. It is scheduled to run 5 p.m.-5 a.m. daily until Tuesday. ....
