Family loses home, dog in Jackson County fire Updated Mar 15, 2021; Facebook Share JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A Grass Lake Township family’s home was destroyed, and their dog was killed in a fire Saturday. The fire started before 3:35 p.m., March 13 in the 4900 block of Fishville Road, fire Chief Greg Jones said. It also destroyed the family’s camper and pickup and all their personal belongings, he said. The family was living in the camper while they were between houses, Jones said. They were not home at the time of the fire, he said. Embers from a fire pit likely blew, catching the grass under the camper on fire, Jones said. The fire also burned the nearby wooded area, destroying about four acres, he said. ....
