Four days after clinching their fourth straight conference title, the Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds hosted class 5A White Hall in a non-conference matchup. A five-run fifth inning for the Lady Bulldogs proved to be the difference as Stuttgart lost 5-2.
Stuttgart outhit White Hall 11-8 for the game, but somehow the 11 hits by the Ladybirds only produced two runs on this night.
Emma Banks enjoyed a three out of four day that included a double. Madelyn Maynard and Lauren Erstine also had multi-hit performances.
In addition to her work in the batter’s box, Banks tossed 7.0 innings in the circle, picking up only her third loss of the season. Banks allowed eight hits and walked none while striking out 13.

Already guaranteed a share of the 4A-5 conference crown, Stuttgart hosted Little Rock Mills on Thursday for a conference doubleheader at Gina Bailey Field at the Reinsch Sports Complex. With the contests, Stuttgart combined for 26 hits to sweep Mills off the prairie and complete their 2021 league schedule unblemished.

After not pitching in the Ladybirds’ previous four outings, Emma Banks got the start in the circle and picked up her 16th win of the season by going 2.0 innings, striking out all six batters she faced. Ashlyn Eason came on in relief and struck out the three batters she saw in her 1.0 inning. The duo combined to deliver a perfect game in three innings as none of Mills’ batters reached the basepaths.

With a doubleheader sweep of Joe T. Robinson on Tuesday night, the Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds are assured of at least a share of the 4A-5 conference title. A sweep of Little Rock Mills tonight gives the Ladybirds their fourth straight outright league championship.

The Ladybirds needed four innings to dispatch Joe T. Robinson in game one on the shoulders of 11 hits and another solid outing from freshman Ashlyn Eason in the circle.
Stuttgart’s lineup picked up 12 RBIs for their 16 runs and struck out only one time in the contest. Lauren Erstine went three out of three in game one and drove in a game-high four runs. Erin Ludwig’s two-out-of-three afternoon led to a two-RBI performance.
