A Mackay man with âsubstantialâ criminal history will be punished for breaching bail conditions after getting kicked out of a domestic violence program.
Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen said âsomething had to be doneâ about Daniel Erich Recker who faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.
The court heard Recker was sentenced to 12 months probation in April last year after pleading guilty to common assault domestic violence and aggravated contravention of a domestic violence order.
But on March 8 this year, he contravened the bail conditions by failing to complete the mandatory United Care domestic violence program or seeking counselling.
The court heard the man was initially not able to use any device able to connect to the internet or take photographs. Mr Govey asked for this particular condition to be varied so his client, who is a supervisor, could use his phone, a tablet and computer for work purposes . Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen varied the bail. A second man appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court for the first time on a charge of possessing child abuse material. It is alleged his offending occurred on May 9, 2020 in Mackay. The court heard the man lived interstate but had flown to Mackay to appear in court.
