Share this article Press release issued: 18 January 2021 A study published today (Monday 18 January) in the publication Addiction suggests that the UK government’s current national population-based data may be understating illicit drug usage among young people by as much as 20%. Researchers from the University of Bristol compared data from the Crime Survey England and Wales (CSEW) with that of the Bristol-based longitudinal health study Children of the 90s . They found that the estimate of lifetime drug use among young people was 20% higher in the Children of the 90s cohort than the CSEW data (40.6% in CSEW, compared with 62.8% in Children of the 90s). ....
