PARENTS and carers in South Craven are being urged to take steps to help protect their children from online dangers. The message has been issued by North Yorkshire’s Safeguarding Children Partnership as many youngsters are set to receive electronic devices and gadgets for Christmas. Partnership bosses say the internet is an “exciting resource” for children, but that it also poses risks. Dr Maggie Atkinson, for the partnership, said: “The world today is so very different from the one in which parents and carers grew-up. “We may feel our children are safe at home playing on their PC, tablet, phone or games consoles, but they might be suffering hidden harm online.
