Schools to reopen on Aug 2

Islamabad: The federal and provincial governments on Wednesday decided to reopen educational institutions across the country on August 2 under strict enforcement of the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by acting secretary of the Federal Education and Professional Training Ministry Asif Haider and attended by provincial education secretaries through video link.
The meeting unanimously decided that boards examinations will be continued on schedule and that the summer vacation won t be extended.
The participants agreed that the decision regarding reopening of educational institutions would be taken by the provinces keeping in view the COVID-19 situation.

Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood will preside over Inter-Provincial Education Ministers conference.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Inter-Provincial Education Ministers conference will be held today (Monday) to decide reopening of educational institutions in the country.
The final decision on whether educational institutions should be reopened or vacations extended will be taken in the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers conference which will be presided over by Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood.
The meeting will be attended by the education ministers of the four provinces, Gilgit and Azad Kashmir. The meeting is also expected to take a final decision on the examinations while summer vacations at educational institutions will also be decided in today’s meeting.
