Forty five years ago, in May, Sir Lalita passed away at his residence in Horton Place Colombo 7, a property inherited from his mother’s mother, who built and presented to the Sasana, Abeysingharamaya (Kolonnawa).
Born in 1900,under a lucky star, in Galmangoda Maha Walauwa to an “old family” rooted in the South, he was a direct descendant of Maha Mudaliyar Louis de Zoysa, the famous scholar who deciphered ancient rock inscriptions.
Sir Lalita was an Anandian as a child, and developed in to a well rounded student at St Joseph’s College, Darley Rd. when Fr Le Goc was Rector. He excelled both in studies and sports, playing cricket for the College and winning most of the athletic events. It was here that the foreign Rev Fathers inculcated in him to attain every goal he set himself, with perseverance and energy.

Gihan commenced his school career from Ranna Maha Vidyalaya and he was admitted to this school in 2011 and the then Principal was Mr. Jinadasa and first class teacher was Mrs. Rohini. He commenced playing volleyball at his village volleyball club Sakura Sports Club from a tender age and he impressed in Volleyball and his parents Janak Kumara and Chamila Krishanthi decided to admit their son to Vijayaba Vidyalaya Hungama in 2011 when Gihan was at Ranna Vidyalaya where he did not participate in any sport

Jalandhar: Sanskriti KMV School opened the gates for its students welcoming them on a cheerful note. Students came to school in phased slots, scheduled grade wise. The school also held an online international greeting interaction hour with global education partner School of Romania, wherein students and teachers of both schools shared their expressions on coming to school after a year. The global interaction was symbolic of common global enthusiasm among students. Students also penned down their thoughts. The staff remained vigilant over the requisite protocol to be followed by students.

Dec 18, Colombo: President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa Friday visited the Imbulpe Rawanakanda village in Balangoda as part of his ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandara’ (“Discussion with Villagers”) program. Participating in the “Discussion with Villagers” program held today at the Thorawelkanda College playground in the Ravanakanda village in the Imbulpe Divisional Secretariat Division, Balangoda, President Rajapaksa listened to the grievances of the villagers and instructed relevant officials to implement several development projects. This is the third of the Discussion with Villagers program in which the President participated. The first was held in September in Haldummulla in the Badulla District and the second in October in the Wilgamuwa Divisional Secretariat in the Matale District.
