Man who killed his pregnant girlfriend in order to avoid the shame of giving birth outside wedlock sentenced to death by hanging

The Nigerian state High courtÂ has sentenced 29-year-old Mustapha Idris to death by hanging for killing his pregnant girlfriend, Nafisa Hashimu.
Mustapha and late Nafisu, a divorcee, were live in lovers in Daneji village. On January 12, 2020, she was found in a pool ofÂ her blood. Following the police investigation, it was discovered that Mustapha slit the throat of late Nafisa, leaving her to die in the pool of her blood.
When interrogated, he initially denied the allegation but later confessed to committing the crime. Idris said he killed Ms Nafisu after she told him she was three months pregnant and that he did it to avoid the shame of giving birth outside wedlock. ....

A high court in Jigawa State on Tuesday sentenced Jamilu Harisu to death by hanging after he was found guilty of killing his father.
According to statement from the state Ministry of Justice, Mr Harisu on July 22, 2019, attacked his father, Harisu Bako, 70, while he was working on his farm.
The convict injured his father on his head with a hoe. The injury led to his death, the statement said.
The statement added that the persecution team led by Jigawa State Attorney General, Musa Aliyu, presented four witnesses to the court, and also tendered a confessional statement and a medical report. ....

Jigawa State High Court sitting in Ringim presided over by Justice Ahmed Mohammed Kazaure has sentenced one Mustapha Idris of Daneji village in Ringim local government to death for homicide.
The case of Mustapha Idris happened on 12th January 2020 at the outskirts of Daneji village, where he allegedly used knife to cut the throat of one Nafisa Hashimu, an act that led to her death. In proof of the case, the prosecution counsel called four (4) witnesses and tendered two (2) documents.
The defendant opened his defence and gave evidence by denying the charges and stated that he was in Abuja when the incident happened. ....
