According to Jessica Briarmoon, her daughter Laurissa has been working extra hard to earn some money to give Varian – named in honor of an anime character a good home.” The teen’s good fortune continued when she was able to acquire a tank for free at a local pet store because it had a crack on one side and was therefore considered unsellable. ....

He has been a civic headache for Edmonds. His situation has left the city baffled; one social service worker admitting we “don’t know what to do for ‘Charlie’.” The city’s dilemma has involved the mayor’s office, police, the city attorney, social workers, the parks department and Edmonds’ fledgling human services office. Edmonds has spent dozens of hours across all those departments to try to resolve the problem of “Charlie.” And he is just one of a number in this area who are homeless, or living in poverty, or with mental health, drug or substance abuse issues. ....
MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: June 29, 2021 Photo courtesy of Dean Wallace Photo, LLC Construction of the Ballinger Park Waterfront Project begins on Thursday, July 1 and Friday, July 2, closing specific areas of the waterfront area so the City of Mountlake Terrace can begin work on major park improvements. The waterfront will temporarily reopen July 3-5, for the holiday weekend, with the closure resuming on July 6 and continuing into September, the city said. The waterfront project will add a new fishing pier, boat dock, boat launch, and enhanced shoreline improvements. Project funding also covers the new restrooms at the boat launch as well as an accessible pathway from the Senior/Community Center to the boat launch area. Demolition of the existing fishing pier, boat ramp, and tire rip rap is another component of the work. The total project cost is nearly $1.5 million. ....
