Over the last week, many private hospitals have recorded a drop in demand for regular beds. H. M. Prasanna, President, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Association (PHANA), who confirmed this trend, said the number of patients needing general beds has reduced.
However, demand for oxygenated beds, which includes high dependency units and ICU beds with ventilators, continues to remain high. One of the reasons is that by the time patients are hospitalised, they need to be immediately given oxygen, said Mr. Prasanna. ....

In the initial few days, vaccination will be done only for the those beneficiaries who are registered online in urban and private facilities and both on-site and online in rural areas.
Moving forward, the state will scale up the vaccination for other mode of registration also and ramp up the number of facilities.
As per criteria specified by GoI, everyone under the specified age group will get a chance to be vaccinated. Vaccination can be done four days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday in government facilities and all working days in private hospitals. From March 1, the vaccination time will be 12 pm to 5 pm and later it will be modified. COVID-19 vaccine yet to find acceptance among a section of healthcare workers

Though it has been 10 days since the vaccination drive against COVID-19 began, the vaccine, it appears, is yet to find acceptance among among a large section of healthcare workers.
Doctors and hospital managements say that a significant section of healthcare workers are not coming forward to take the jab despite hospitals initiating several confidence-building measures.
Prasanna H.M., president, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA), said that only around 40% of the healthcare workers in private hospitals were willing to take the jab. “All heads of hospitals and senior doctors took the vaccine, and hoped that it would motivate more people to come forward. But families of healthcare professionals are advising them to adopt a wait-and-watch approach,” he said. ....

Bengaluru civic body chief contracts Covid-19, requests all contacts to get tested

The Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), N Manjunath Prasad, tested positive for COVID-19 late on Tuesday evening.
“I have quarantined myself after getting a positive result in a Covid-19 test that I took today. I appeal all those who have come in contact with me for various meetings and events in the last few days, including mediapersons to get themselves tested for Covid-19,” Prasad said.
According to BBMP officials, Prasad had slight fever and related symptoms and has been admitted to Mallige Hospital in the city. The local civic body also urged those who had met the Commissioner in the last few days to undergo Covid-19 tests. ....
