The Small Business Administration approved more than half a billion dollars in Restaurant Revitalization Fund grants to 2,336 Oregon restaurants, bars, food carts and other food and drink businesses, the agency reported Friday.
That figure puts Oregon among the top 20 states and territories in terms of total funds received. In all, more than 100,000 restaurants received a share of nearly $30 billion distributed by the federal government to assist food businesses impacted by the pandemic.
The fund, having earmarked all the cash allocated by Congress, closed July 2. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, a Portland Democrat who championed the initial bill, has introduced legislation with a bipartisan group to replenish the fund with another $60 billion.
