VDOT holds a virtual public hearing about Interstate 81 improvements. The state wants to widen a 5.1-mile stretch is between exits 137 and 141 in Roanoke County and Salem from two lanes to three. The nearly $300 million project will provide additional capacity and improve safety. The public hearing runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Pulaski County School Board will discuss the timeline for returning to five days of instruction per week. Last week, Gov. Ralph Northam asked all school divisions to make in-person learning options available by March 15. The board will also discuss options for the school calendar for the next school year. ....

The elderly population has been some of the most affected by COVID-19 as some went months with no in-person visits from family and friends, and limited contact with each other. However, with a partnership between CVS, Walgreens and local senior living facilities, hope is returning as vaccines for both staff and residents have been rolling out since their release.
Oak Wood Place partnered with Walgreens in December, making the Pfizer vaccine available to all residents and employees. ....

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WAFF) -18,000 additional Alabamians were vaccinated for COVID-19 on Wednesday, including hundreds of people who lined up at Highlands Medical Center in Jackson County.
Highlands Medical Center received the shipment of Moderna vaccines on Tuesday.
The Director of Marketing, Wendi Raeuchle told WAFF 48 it was unexpected due to the current shortage of vaccines.
As we know, vaccines are in high demand. On Wednesday, 300 people were able to get their first dose.
Devonna Talley was one of many people who made the trip to Highlands Medical Center to get the Moderna vaccine. ....

Communities in Schools of San Antonio has received a $1 million grant from USAA to further its efforts to guide at-risk high school students to graduation and beyond.
The donation will help an estimated 750 seniors develop a plan to reach graduation and eventually the growing San Antonio workforce, said Jessica Weaver, the organization’s CEO. ....
