Sheridan VA announces statewide listening sessions in effort to guide the future of VA health care – Sheridan Media

The Sheridan VA Health Care System has announced registration is now open for a virtual listening session May 6, at 1 p.m. to hear from veterans and the communities the system serves. This is one of 50 public virtual listening sessions across the country from March through June 2021 to hear from veterans on how to design a health care system of the future and grow services for veterans in a way that reinforces VA’s role as a leader in the U.S. healthcare system. “We want to hear from veterans and other stakeholders in the communities we serve to understand their vision for VA health care,” Sheridan VA Health Care System Director Pam Crowell  said. “We want to ensure we continually improve on care so we can have the best VA health care system that meets the needs of veterans today and for generations to come. The best way to do that is hear directly from those we serve.”

Youth Training Program to advance land stewardship and conservation

Arctic Journal The Youth Training in Ethical Knowledge Sharing and Co-production to Advance Northern, Indigenous-led Conservation and Stewardship Program will train a generation of Indigenous youth to design and deliver relevant research projects using Indigenous and community-based research methods, as well as ethical approaches to knowledge sharing between Indigenous and Western ways of knowing. Youth will be trained both as guardians and researchers to develop the skills to understand, work and care for the lands and waters within their traditional territories. Canadian Mountain Network (CMN) Co‐Research Director, Norma Kassi, was awarded a $500,000 2020 Arctic Inspiration Prize (AIP) for the Program. Funding from AIP, together with support from CMN, will bring the total project budget to 1 million dollars, which will allow for up to 30 youth from the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunatsiavut to attend 10‐day training camps in 2022 and 2023.
