The break occurred shortly after noon when a 10-foot crack developed in a section of 12-foot-diameter ductile iron pipe, public works Director James Rollins said. “Most of the east side of town was without water for a couple of hours, but the 200 apartments and approximately 500 to 600 residents of Nanni Drive and Mountain View Terrace didn’t get their water back until right around midnight,” he said. “The leak caused damage to 300 feet of Nanni Drive, which will need to get repaved.”

Traffic signs placed in vicinity of PriceSmart to reduce congestion

The police are advising the public that there are temporary traffic signs placed in the vicinity of PriceSmart on Red Hills Road in St Andrew to alleviate the traffic congestion along that thoroughfare. Motorists desirous of entering PriceSmart are being advised to turn left at Hill View Terrace, make the second right, then next right on to Valentine Drive and in to PriceSmart. The police will also be on location to monitor the flow of traffic in that area, an advisory from the police s Corporate Communications Unit stated Tuesday. There is often a traffic pile-up in the vicinity of PriceSmart as shoppers flock to the popular membership store. The situation is worse during the Christmas season amid an increase in shopping activity.
