State Agrees To Continue Free COVID-19 Testing In Hillsboro
The Hill County Commissioners Court met in a regular session Tuesday morning, December 8, and discussed the continuation of free COVID-19 testing in Hillsboro along with other county business.
Hill County Judge Justin Lewis said that the regional testing center has been an important resource for the general public, nursing homes, schools and others who need access to testing. Hillsboro s location on the I-35 corridor also made it an attractive site to the state as a regional testing center.
County officials were recently informed that the site, which is operated by a contractor for the state, would close at the end of the year. Lewis said that he had been in contact with state officials, including Department of State Health Services Commissioner John Hellerstedt, to request that the site stay open. ....
