Apathy, weariness in fight against pandemic cause for Sabah's Covid-19 figures, say health experts

KOTA KINABALU: Public apathy and weariness on the long-drawn fight against the Covid-19 pandemic remains a key factor for the spread of the infection that sees Sabah s figures rising and dipping over the last few months.
Public health experts believe that people might have developed lethargy and as such, drop their guard against the continuing threat of the virus that is now seeing a fresh rising trend in the east coast Sabah areas particularly south-eastern Tawau district.

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor (pix) has approved funds totaling RM746,000 for addressing drug abuse and social problems in the state.
He said RM500,000 will be allocated to the National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) to carry out an integrated programme to tackle drug addiction and social ills in high-risk areas and build a new rehabilitation centre (Puspen) on a 12-hectare site in Tawau.
Currently, Sabah has one Puspen in Papar, which can accommodate up to 300 people.

“Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) was given RM246,000 to continue with its happy family programme as a holistic approach to address the problem of drug addiction and social deviance,“ he said after chairing the Sabah Drugs Eradication Action Council (MTMD) meeting at the State Administrative Centre here today. ....

KOTA KINABALU, April 8 After Parti Warisan Sabah distanced itself from Pakatan Harapan, political analysts have warned that the East Malaysian party will need to team up with a national-level political party if it wishes to remain relevant to voters.
