Acadiana Renaissance Charter founding principal leaving mark on school

Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy s founding principal, Christine Stoudt, has held fast to a motto over her 27 years in education  Always move forward. If, in education, we think we have arrived we re mistaken, Stoudt said. We always have to be growing and moving with the community and its needs. It s our job as educators to move every kid forward. The idea has been a driver for her, whether teaching middle school English or opening brand-new schools, like Baton Rouge Charter Academy at Mid City in 2013 and ARCA in Youngsville in 2014.  Now she plans to take those words with her as she moves forward  to Nashville this summer to open another new charter school, her third.

Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy growing into its new space

Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy growing into its new space Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy opened its high school this year with about 100 ninth-graders in a brand-new building known as the 6-12 campus. As part of the Youngsville school s expansion, middle-schoolers moved from the original building next door into the new structure that was completed in June. So the K-8 school shifted to a larger K-5 and 6-12 charter.  That allowed the elementary grades to grow, too. Each level added two teachers and 50 students, Principal Christine Stoudt said. ARCA will continue to grow its older population over the next three years, adding a grade level and increasing enrollment in other grades each year until it is fully K-12 in 2023.
