Pat Cole Members of the Rockport Parks and Beautification Committee took to Memorial Park in mid-May to spread three yards of mulch throughout the garden beds. The group consisted of of Doug and Pat Cole, Sally Cook, Jan Baldwin, Paula Coyne, Denise Munger and Haunani Wallace, all who spent the better part of two hours completing the task. Meanwhile, Lea Anne Dunton was studying the remaining area to be landscaped at the Rockport Public Library, laying out the design for the plants the town is purchasing. Those, too, will need to be planted by volunteers. The Park was redesigned by the committee after it was used as a staging area for the construction of the new library. The Select Board tasked the committee members with restoring it back to its original state, or an improved state. ....
ROCKPORT After months of closed door meetings, consultations with attorneys and finally, mediation with Duward Parkinson, the towns of Camden and Rockport, along with School Administrative District 28, have come to an agreement over the $1.5 million district assessment error that over-taxed Rockport and under-taxed Camden for more than a decade of public education costs. In short, and with details still pending, the agreement as outlined Tuesday night, March 9, arranges for $750,000 to be paid by Camden to SAD 28 over eight years. SAD 28, in turn, will give that money back to Rockport. Additioanlly, SAD 28, which educates Camden and Rockport students in grades K-8, is to give Rockport another $150,000. ....

ROCKPORT A timeline posted on the Town of Rockport website illustrates a series of hearings and public meetings that is to lead up to a proposed short-term rental ordinance appearing before residents on the June ballot. Meanwhile, the Town Manager has responded to a citizen’s letter taking issue with the use of taxpayer dollars funding a mailing that included Select Board opinion on the ordinance. William Post, town manager, has countered: “The intent was not to lobby for a particular result. The intent was to be informative.” See below for full letter.
