Platform provider HUB24 has appointed Darren Stevens to the newly-created role of chief product officer to lead strategic product development initiatives.
Stevens had over 35 years’ experience in financial services across actuarial consulting, strategy, product development and management roles.
He joined from MLC where he held the position of group executive – platforms and was responsible for the firm’s platform transformation strategy.
Prior to that, Stevens was head of superannuation at Mercer Australia and spent 10 years as director of strategy and product management for fintech Bravura Solutions.
Stevens would be responsible for bringing together the product development expertise across both the platform and HUBconnect.

New software for Dell EMC PowerStore enterprise storage systems provides improved performance plus automation capabilities. The company has also introduced a new model in the PowerStore family – the PowerStore 500.
The performance improvements in PowerStoreOS 2.0 are said to deliver up to 25% more IOPS in Dell s internal testing.
Some of that improvement comes from the option of using storage class memory (SCM) as persistent storage to speed metadata access for up to 15% lower workload latency with just one Intel Optane D4800X drive.
The new software also provides support for NVMe over Fibre Channel (NVMe-FC) with no additional hardware.
Thompson would continue to drive strategic growth for Mercer’s superannuation business, as well as developing new partnerships and commercial opportunities as industry consolidation continues.
Barber joined Mercer from Australian Unity, where he held the role of chief executive for Australian Unity Bank for the past four years.
Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Australian Unity’s Wealth business, and was a partner at Ernst & Young, focused on the financial services industry.
David Bryant, Mercer Australia chief executive, said Mercer would further cement itself as a high value provider of superannuation under Barber’s leadership.
Mortgage Business MLC managing director joins FSC By Sarah Buckley 02 February 2021
The Financial Services Council has appointed MLC Wealth’s acting managing director, Andrew Morgan, as a director of the FSC board.
Mr Morgan has over 30 years of experience in the industry.
Having joined MLC Wealth in 2019 as chief corporate services officer, he was named acting managing director in November last year.
Mr Morgan has also previously held the positions of chief financial officer of wealth management at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, as well as having held leadership positions at Perpetual Limited, Lend Lease Corporation and NAB.
Between 2005-2008, Mr Morgan was head of international mortgage at US-based mortgage company Radian.
