Villagers demand 10-bedded hospital at Loutolim

Margao: With the 10-bedded hospital proposal kept in cold storage for almost two decades and that the 108 ambulance service and two-wheeler ambulances being withdrawn soon, the 11,000 odd population of Loutolim are being neglected in terms of health, claim the villagers.
Presently, the over burdened Loutolim health centre is catering to the health needs of the villagers. The villagers, underlining the need of a mini hospital, proposed a 10-bedded hospital in the year 2000, when the Hospicio Hospital was observantly overloaded. However interestingly, the proposal was kept on hold by successive governments citing reasons as there is a district (Hospicio) hospital at a distance of 10 kms and hence the proposal vetted by the then legislators including the former ministers was shelved. And, as the years went by, the new ID hospital at Ponda and south Goa district hospital were constructed and that had reduce ....
