Liam Heylin A young man who denied obstructing a drugs search complained in his trial that gardaí violated him and he brought a complaint to the Garda Ombudsman. Judge Marian O’Leary convicted Kelvin Higgins of obstructing a drugs search at Gurranabraher garda station and sentenced him to four months in prison. Judge O’Leary also convicted him of assaulting Garda Senan Dormer by striking his head backwards on to Garda Dormer’s forehead. Higgins denied the assault charge but was fined €500 or five days in prison in default of payment. ....
Airborne car hit roof of taxi following collision in Limerick village Reporter: ); ); A CAR hit the roof of a taxi after it became airborne following a collision with a ditch, Kilmallock Court heard. Lukaz Kantor, aged 24, of Corrin Drive, Ballyhea pleaded guilty to no insurance, no driving licence and dangerous driving. Inspector Pat Brennan said gardai were called to a road traffic accident at Ballymacshaneboy, Effin on February 13, 2020. “It was around 5pm. There were two vehicles involved - a Toyota Avensis and a Ford Mondeo which was a taxi. Upon exiting the patrol car Mr Kantor made himself known to gardai. He was the driver of the Avensis. He immediately accepted liability and said he was a disqualified driver,” said Inspector Brennan. ....

The former nurse and solicitor was appointed to the bench in April 2014 and was permanently assigned to preside over court sittings Limerick and Kilmallock the following February. Speaking on her final day presiding at Limerick District Court last Friday, the Cork native year-old thanked everyone she worked with during her time in Limerick. “I came to Limerick six years ago knowing no one and, let’s be honest, knowing very little slash nothing about crime. Limerick woman tells court of ‘mental and physical torture’ by husband Reporter: ); A COUNTY Limerick woman has told Kilmallock Court how she stood up to her husband for the first time after years of “mental and physical torture”. Her husband was before the court for breaching a protection order on September 3, 2018. He pleaded not guilty. The woman took the stand. She said on her way home from work she had a lot of missed calls from her husband. “I listened to the messages. I knew he was drunk. He is an alcoholic for a long time,” she said. The court heard that they live in separate properties on a farm in County Limerick. ....
