No State Complicity in ‘Few’ Instances of Forced Conversions in Pakistan: FO Spokesperson claims most reported instances of ‘forced conversions’ are fictitious and designed to malign Pakistan Rejecting any perception of institutionalized forced religious conversions, Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Tuesday stressed that minorities in the country are free to profess, practice and propagate their religion. Responding to media queries in Islamabad, spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that Islam forbids forced conversions under the Quran and Sunnah. He claimed that most reported cases of forced conversion, upon closer scrutiny, were found to be “fictitious, politically-motivated or based on mala fide intent,” adding that this was part of a concerted effort to malign Pakistan globally. He cited the recent disclosures by EU DisinfoLab as proof that Indian intelligence agencies were spreading disinformation about Pakistan.

PM Mahinda Rajapaksa to inaugurate NITC 2020 online conference today

  Guest of Honour Ministry of Technology Secretary Jayantha De Silva The 38th edition of National Information Technology Conference (NITC), themed ‘Towards a Sustainable Digital Sri Lanka’ at 2 p.m. Friday 18 December will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. NITC is the country’s flagship ICT event organised by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) and will be held on 18 and 19 December as a virtual (online) conference.  The Prime Minister is attending the conference inauguration as the Chief Guest. At the same time, Ministry of Technology Secretary and ICTA Chairman Jayantha De Silva will be the Guest of Honour and the inauguration Keynote Speaker.
