Review: Bad Trip | Film Ireland Magazine

Cian Geoghegan gets under the cheap laughs. ‘Heartwarming’ and ‘life-affirming’ are unlikely descriptors for a comedy whose two leads at one point get their genitals stuck in a Chinese finger trap. Kitao Sakurai’s hidden-camera comedy may seem shallow at the outset, but it has more to offer than cheap laughs and gross-out humour.   The film stars Eric André (wearing many hats here as co-writer and -producer), and much of the crew is carried over from his Adult Swim anti-chat show and absurdist art piece The Eric André Show. André plays Chris, a hapless Floridian unable to hold a job, who brings his best friend Bud (

New Movies to Watch This Week: In the Earth, Beast Beast, We Broke Up, Hope Peter Debruge, provided by FacebookTwitterEmail With traditional release patterns still in turmoil as Hollywood and the world adjusts to the pandemic, it can be intimidating to keep up with when and where new films are being released but the truth is, there are more movies coming out each week now than ever before. It’s just a question of where to look. Let Variety help you find that next well-earned bit of escapism, whether it’s a Milla Jovovich stunt spectacular (like “The Rookies”) or a sexy Japanese manga adaptation (à la “Ride or Die” on Netflix). Bad Trip is a raunchy ride to nowhere | Arts + Culture

Contributed If Eric Andre’s self-titled show on Adult Swim has provided any insight into the comedian, it’s that he is more than comfortable making people uncomfortable. His pranks — which involve a lot of public nudity, fake arson and uncomfortable celebrity interviews — all come together like some funny fever dream. Andre’s Netflix movie debut “Bad Trip” isn’t much different, even if his intentional derangement is not nearly as prominent. A raunchy road-trip adventure infused with graphic gags and dick-fusing finger traps, Andre’s debut on the big screen is surprisingly heartfelt, despite its sometimes in-poor-taste pranks. The story starts like an improvised romantic comedy, though the “romance” feels mostly one-sided. Chris, played by Andre, runs into his childhood crush Maria (Michaela Conlin), who politely invites him to an art show in New York City. All starry-eyed and ready to leav

Lake County News,California - Bad Trip raunchy prank antics run wild; cable TV preview

‘Bad Trip’ raunchy prank antics run wild; cable TV preview Tim Riley 04 April 2021 ‘BAD TRIP’ TV MOVIE ON NETFLIX Johnny Knoxville has been on hiatus for several years from the idiocy of the wild pranks of the “Jackass” franchise, but until the next installment arrives the vacuum can be filled by others making a hidden camera movie. We are long past the days of Allen Funt’s “Candid Camera,” and for the uninitiated, clips of classic episodes of this landmark television series from the Fifties and Sixties may be glimpsed on YouTube. To fill the void until Knoxville returns, Netflix steps into the breach with “Bad Trip,” a raunchy prank-filled adventure thankfully devoid of a political agenda or social commentary.
