More vending machines will be distributed to schools and community centres.
The first sanitary pad vending machine was launched at the School of Hope in Observatory, Cape Town, on Tuesday. 
The project is the first of its kind and was launched by O Graceland (OGL) and the MENstruation Foundation.
It aims to create free access to sanitary pads for young girls during their menstrual cycle.
OGL director, Philani Zama, and the MENstruation Foundation s director, Marius Basson, are the brains behind the sanitary pad vending machine project. ....

April 13 2021 - A sanitary pad vending machine at the School of Hope in Cape Town at the launch of the project on Tuesday. Cape Town - Period poverty remains a huge issue in South Africa.
Millions of girls and women have their lives on hold – for five to seven days each month – due to a lack of access to menstrual products, often having to resort to home- made alternatives.
While government, with the aim of making menstrual products more affordable, dropped the 15% Value Added Tax on menstrual products in 2019, the cost of basic sanitary pads remains a burden for the vulnerable. ....
