Georgia Power is encouraging its 2.6 million customers to prepare for the upcoming Atlantic Hurricane Season and is partnering with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA) and the National Weather Service (NWS) to promote National Hurricane Preparedness Week, which runs May 9-15.
Georgia Power reminds customers to keep safety first during hurricane season, which begins June 1 and runs through November 30, and take time now to ready themselves, their homes and family. The company offers the following tips to help keep customers safe ahead of an emergency:
Build an emergency kit – Gather supplies that will last for several days for everyone living in your home.
