For March, there were 339 enplanements, 87 more than last year. Numbers are about what they were in 2019, according to Glen Kelly, manager of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport. “(It’s a) very positive trend. They’ve enplaned 110 in the past three days. The Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport hopes to extend the contract with Contour Airlines as discussed during last week’s Wood County Airport Authority meeting. Originally, the contract with Contour Airlines would be completed this September, but airport manager Glen Kelly said he hopes it will be extended. “I found out that we could move forward with asking to extend that contract. They’re doing it for the same price and we have asked to extend it for four more years,” Kelly said. ....

[email protected] The closure of the airport for a few days following the February ice storm was a topic of discussion among other business items at Tuesday’s Wood County Airport Authority meeting. An ice storm hit the Mid-Ohio Valley during the week of Feb. 14, which impacted airport business. To use chemicals to get rid of the ice, Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport manager Glen Kelly said it would cost over $50,000 for one application on the runway and that’s just the beginning of the expense. “The next night we got about another quarter inch of ice. We have no method here to do chemical deicing. It’s quite expensive,” Kelly said. “We did remove all the snow (but) we couldn’t get enough braking action.” ....
