Pop-up vaccine clinics launch in hard-hit communities

Ottawa Public Health will begin rolling out four pop-up vaccination clinics Saturday that have been strategically placed near neighbourhoods where COVID-19 has hit the hardest.
Frederique, a 58-year-old woman who lives on Cedarwood Drive, said on Friday she booked an appointment after finding a pamphlet slipped under her door.
I m so happy because I m going to be getting my COVID-19 vaccine, said Frederique, who declined to give her last name. ....

Vaccine remains out of reach for many in COVID-19 'hot spot'

Sumaiya Hirsi, 11, hasn t attended class since March 29, when her entire Grade 5 class at Sawmill Creek Elementary School was sent home after two students tested positive for COVID-19.
Hirsi, who shares a four-bedroom rowhouse on Bridle Path Drive with her mother, her aunt and four older siblings, worried about infecting her family.
I had to stay upstairs until I got my test [results] back. I could have infected my mom and her daycare. My siblings all work, said Hirsi, who normally shares a bed with her mother, a child-care worker. ....

Ontario has extended the province s stay-at-home order for an additional two weeks in order to get the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic under control.
Starting Monday, checkpoints will be set up at Ontario s provincial borders with Quebec and Manitoba. Capacity will be further limited at religious gatherings, non-essential construction will be shut down and outdoor amenities including playgrounds and golf courses will be restricted.
