An Australia-wide telecommunications business officially opened its newest branch at Emerald on Monday, returning to the Central Highlands for the first time in more than six years. The new Optus store at Central Highlands Marketplace has created four new jobs for locals and provides opportunities for and forms part of the company’s commitment to providing more choice to those in the area. Garry Clarke, Optus Local Channel & Execution manager for Central Queensland, said he was thrilled to be opening the new store. “There was a store here about six years ago, but we’ve got stores in Rockhampton and all across Central Queensland and now it’s a return to Emerald,” he said. ....

Moranbah’s Snap Fitness branch closed at 12.01am on Thursday, March 11 due to the abandonment of lease. It was understood members and the branch manager were caught off guard, being notified just hours before via email. “Regrettably, we are writing to inform you that the current tenant of Snap Fitness Moranbah has abandoned their lease and as such, the club will be permanently closed as of 12.01am, Thursday, 11th March,” Lift Brands Australia and New Zealand CEO Adrian Furminger wrote in a letter to clients. ....

Goodstart Early Learning Emerald has been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standard after being assessed in December. The Emerald business has partnered with the children’s charity since 2012, purchasing more than $45,000 worth of equipment for Central Queensland Hospitals. Its latest donation provided a pulse oximeter ($2180) and breast pump ($3470) for the Emerald Hospital. “We are privileged to be in position where we can give back to our local community to create a lasting impact that extends beyond our business,” Hitachi Emerald administration manager Kathryn Lynam said. Humpty Dumpty keeps a regularly updated ‘wish list’ of medical items needed in regional hospitals across Australia, which are purchased with the support of individuals and corporate partners. ....
