THANE: The crime branch unit -5 of the city police arrested three person including jeweller and seized from their possession counterfeit currency notes worth Rs. 85.4 lakhs, hit by the pandemic due to covid-19, the accused turned towards this.
Those arrested are identified as Sachin Agre,29, Mansoor Hussain Khan, 45, both residents of Chiplun in Ratnagiri and Chandrakant Mahadeo Mane, 45, Sakinaka, Mumbai, said DCP Crime Laxmikant Patil.
The police said based on a tipoff to the Senior Inspector Vikas Ghodke of the wagle Unit that some persons were coming to the Kapurbawdi circle for sale of currency notes laid a trap on Wednesday evening and nabbed the accused.

The Thane police on Thursday arrested three persons and seized counterfeit currency notes with a face value of over Rs 85 lakh.

Police have seized counterfeit currency notes of over Rs 85 lakh face value from Thane city of Maharashtra and arrested three persons, an official said on Thursday.
The arrest was made by Thane police s Crime Unit-V (Wagle Estate) on Wednesday evening, senior police officer Laxmikant Patil said. Acting on a tip-off that some persons were coming to Kapurbawdi Circle on Wednesday evening for the sale of fake currency notes, a police team led by senior inspector Vikas Ghodke laid a trap and arrested Sachin Agre, 29 and seized fake Rs 2,000 denomination notes of Rs 85.48 lakh face value, he said.

Thane: Thane Police has arrested three people with fake notes of worth Rs 85.48 lakh on Thursday. The accused were caught in Kapurbawdi area by Thane crime unit 5. Sachin Gangaram Angre (29), Mansoor Hussain Khan (45), both from Chiplun and Chandrakant Mahadev Mans (45) from Kurla are the names of the accused who were caught following a tip-off in Thane, said a police official.
According to the police information, fake notes printed by the accused consisted of Rs 2000 denomination. The police team have received information from their source about suspected people who had planned to meet near Kapurbawdi circle bus stop. With the fake notes, the equipment like printer, computer, paper and mobiles were used for printing these notes, said the police official.
