Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav: Tourism Department organises Boating at Mansar Lake
JAMMU: As a part of “Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” celebrations marking the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence, Directorate of Tourism Jammu today organised boating at Mansar Lake.
Tourists enjoyed paddle boating in the serene waters of Mansar lake amidst picturesque nature with Indian flags in hand and chanting of slogans of “Vandemataram”,”Bharat Mata ki Jai”.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director Tourism Jammu urged the youth and locals to take the responsibility of promoting tourist spots of Jammu and help the department in showcasing the region’s rich culture, art and literature. He also briefed about year long celebrations to mark 75th year of Indian Independence. People were requested to participate in these events with full zeal and enthusiasm. ....

Hundreds of fine hexagonal brick tiles taken out of different structures during restoration work of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex have been crushed along with unserviceable material and used as one of the key ingredients of mortar. Many of these hexagonal bricks have also been thrown out of complex as mulba (Trash). The clay bricks were so fine, strong and unique that if stacked and preserved could have been re-used as ornamental pieces in the same complex thereby retaining the originality of historical buildings but lack of knowledge or call it concern robbed people of Jammu of its treasure. ....

JAMMU, Feb 22: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review ongoing projects of Tourism Department.
Advisor said that LG has called for major up gradation of existing infrastructure of Jammu Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation and the same needs to be done at the earliest to cater to the increasing number of tourist influx.
He had a detailed assessment of the robust development plan worth Rs 198 crore for Mansar which has been submitted to Government of India, to be funded under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Besides, some of the works have already been sanctioned under Capex budget which included development of view points along Sidhra-Mansar and Samba-Mansar routes, construction of gender-based toilets, procuring boats, life jackets and installation of high power illumination e ....
