Lucknow, June 6 : In yet another gesture towards children who lost their parents due to the Covid pandemic, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has upwardly revised the help being given to children whose guardian s income is below Rs 2 lakh per year.
For the legal or natural guardian, the annual income of Rs two lakh limit is very low, hence should be increased, the chief minister has directed officials.
According to the government spokesman, a monthly financial assistance of Rs 4,000 will be given to a child s guardian or caretaker, till he or she attains adulthood, while those who do not have anyone to look after them will be sent to child protection homes. ....

Greater Noida: Youngsters who are aged over 18 and have lost either one or both their parents to Covid should also be covered by the UP government’s financial assistance scheme, their relatives have demanded.
Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Scheme, only minor children who have lost one or both their parents due to Covid would be entitled to a financial assistance scheme of Rs 4,000 a month till Class XII.
For those who have lost a parent, the family’s annual income should be less than Rs 2 lakh to be covered by the scheme.
Manoj Rai, director of the women and child development department, said, “If a child loses one parent, he will also be considered for the scheme if the family’s income is less than Rs 2 lakh a year.” In Noida, 71 children have been identified under the scheme. Of them, six have lost both their parents. In Ghaziabad, 119 children have been identified as potential beneficiaries. Of them, 21 kids have lost both parents. ....
