As the second wave hits the country, Pune faces an acute shortage of covid beds. The 60 railways coaches that had been equipped last year with ventilators to isolate patients could help in this situation.

Pune: As the second wave of Covid-19 has hit the country, Pune faces an acute shortage of Covid beds. The 60 railways coaches that had been equipped last year with ventilators to isolate patients could help in catering for the shortage of beds.
Pune Railway station public relations officer Manoj Jhanwar told Mirror, “We had readied the facility in April 2020, but it wasn’t used. There was no demand for it and we eventually wrapped it up. The set-up was not too expensive and could have been put to good use for isolation at present. However, the facility is not in place currently. We can ready it ....
