(Photo by hdptcar.net) A Vatican recognized charity has increased its efforts to foster peaceful coexistence between religions in Africa after reporting an increase in Muslim violence against Christians in various counries across the vast continent. Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), a pontifical foundation supporting persecuted Christians worldwide, said it has taken several steps to bring peace between Africa s 685 million Christians and its 446 million Muslims. In its recently released report on Religious Freedom in the World, ACN said Christians face severe persecution in 12 of 26 African countries. It noted that there has been a rise in transnational Islamist networks in Africa.
