The Bangkok Business and Human Rights Week, which is being launched today in the capital amid the surge of Covid cases, addresses the issue of unequal access to vaccines as a human rights violation.
The rapid development of Covid-19 vaccines has been an unprecedented scientific achievement. Yet most OECD countries, including those in Southeast Asia, are yet to receive supplies sufficient to vaccinate all their priority populations.
To mitigate the health and economic risks associated with unequal access to Covid-19 vaccines, public and private sectors must coordinate their efforts and resources to address vaccine access as a fundamental human right for everyone.
