Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley is now accepting homeowner applications for homes, which will be located downvalley, with a scheduled completion date of 2022. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. Sept. 30, 2021.
Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley works with partner families, guiding them through the application process. As part of Habitat’s homeownership program, each family also receives financial and first-time home buyer education. This ensures every first-time homeowner is set up for success as they transition from renting to owning.
To qualify, families must currently live in substandard housing, earn 35% to 80% (between $35,000 and $80,000 for a family of four) of the area median income, purchase the home through an affordable mortgage, have good credit, show the ability to pay for the home and have the willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley.
Let Alpine Bank and the Habitat ReStore Vail Valley help you declutter at the free paper shred event May 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“We’re so excited to help homeowners and business owners shred old papers they have,” said Ann Carlin, Habitat ReStore Vail Valley manager. “The event was canceled last year, so we’ve heard of several people who held on to their paper to shred this year.”
Alpine Bank is sponsoring this free on-site document shredding day, to securely dispose of unwanted documents with personal information. Staples and paperclips do not need to be re-moved. The bank has supported Habitat’s efforts for many years.

Grand Hyatt Vail has launched a “Grand Gestures” initiative this winter to raise awareness and funds for charitable causes within the Vail Valley whose fundraising efforts were disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grand Hyatt Vail’s winter Grand Gestures recipients include organizations supporting pediatric health, arts, culture, education and shelter, including Ski Fast Foundation, Vail Valley Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley.
“We know that many of our local charities haven’t been able to fundraise in their traditional ways during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we want to partner with them to help raise funds to support our community,” Ashley Okamura, director of events for Grand Hyatt Vail, said.
