(WWSB) - Just delightful spring weather to persist through the work week with highs near seasonable averages with highs in the upper 70â²s near the coast and low 80s a mile or two inland from the Sarasota Bay. A ridge of high pressure will stay put right over Florida and this will bring generally clear skies and light winds for the Suncoast right through Friday. We will see a slight increase in the humidity by the the end of the work week as winds begin to shift to the SE in advance of a storm system moving through the SE U.S. ....

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency Saturday after a significant leak at a large pond of wastewater threatened to flood roads and burst a system that stores polluted waters. The pond where the leak was discovered is at the old Piney Point phosphate mine, sitting in a stack of phosphogypsum, a waste product from manufacturing fertilizer that is radioactive. Apr 5, 2021 Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (Palmetto, FL) The governor is promising to send every resource at the state s disposal to prevent what he says could be a real catastrophic flood situation. Governor Ron DeSantis was in Manatee County yesterday to address the Piney Point wastewater breach. He says the National Guard is bringing in 20 extra pumps to drain more wastewater, but he says he also is working on a permanent solution to this long-standing issue.
