th General Assembly adjourned for the year, finishing the first year of the two-year session just after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. Legislators worked to keep the General Assembly running as smoothly as possible as Tennessee continued to open up following the distribution of vaccines. Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Budget
Last week, the legislature passed a $42.6 billion budget. In stark contrast to the budget passed in 2020 which anticipated a $1 billion shortfall, the 112
th General Assembly saw both a budget surplus and a significant amount of federal stimulus funds. The passed budget includes a one-time $250 million deposit into the state’s pension fund and a deposit of $100 million into the state’s rain-day fund. St. Johns County projects earmarked in Florida state budget


Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is allowed to line-item veto the budget, could still wipe out the funding. Last year, DeSantis vetoed the Ponte Vedra dune restoration along with many other local projects like the St. Augustine Lighthouse and the West Augustine sewage project. The budget goes into effect on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2022.
Here are some highlights for St. Johns County:
Infrastructure
$300,000: West Augustine Septic-to-Sewer Program for West 3rd St., from HB 3411. Sponsored by State Rep. Cyndi Stevenson, the funding would go toward building a sanitary sewer system. The request was made by St. Augustine City Manager John Reagan. According to the request, the project is expected to Improve groundwater and well quality and increase storm hardening by constructing a sanitary sewer system on W. 3rd Street between S. Volusia and Duval streets. ....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Governor Bill Lee announced that the Tennessee budget passed the General Assembly on Thursday. It totals $42.6 billion with investments in literacy, mental health, infrastructure and broadband technology.
The budget comes after officials said $180 million was saved from spending reductions. They also said that the state is starting to return to its pre-pandemic priorities, investing in partnerships with private agencies.
“I’m proud that this budget delivers on some of our top promises to Tennesseans and invests in external organizations meeting the needs of our local communities,” said Gov. Lee. ....

Governor Bill Lee has announced the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 budget has passed through the General Assembly. The budget totals $42.6 billion and includes investments in literacy, mental health, broadband, and safety.
“I’m proud that this budget delivers on some of our top promises to Tennesseans and invests in external organizations meeting the needs of our local communities,” said Gov. Lee. “Thank you to the General Assembly for their steadfast commitment to our shared goals and establishing Tennessee as a fiscal leader across the nation.”
As a result of fiscal prudence and over $180 million in spending reductions from the state agencies, Tennessee is able to return to pre-pandemic priorities and invest in public-private partnerships. ....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Gov. Bill Lee announced that the Tennessee General Assembly has passed the budget for 2021-2022. It takes effect on July 1.
The governor said the $42.6 billion budget includes “historic investments” in literacy, mental health, broadband and safety.
THE BUDGET INCLUDES:
$250 investment in Mental Health Trust Fund
$79 million to eliminate the 11,400 person TCAT waiting list
$145 million for air and rail transportation infrastructure
