Four $12,600 headliners for developing younger performers were in the Wednesday (July 14) spotlight at Harrah’s Philadelphia. On the trot, Ethan T Hanover, a sophomore son of Bar Hopping who is a half-brother to double Breeders Crown winner Emoticon Hanover, went wicked fractions of :27.4, :55.4 and 1:24.2, then drew clear of his opposition late for a 3-3/4-length victory in 1:54.2, beating his old mark by three seconds. Lindys Goin Crazy, who battled gamely close behind the winner most of the mile, edged first-over favourite Magical Muscle Man for second behind the winner of $156,673, who was driven by Kasper Foget for trainer Per Engblom and the partnership of Engblom Stable LLC, Douglas Sipple, and Mal & Janet Burroughs LLC. ....
Odds-on favourite Keg Stand took the lead with a quarter-pole move and made it stand up, capturing his second straight stakes event in Wednesday’s (July 14) $156,320 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes at The Meadows. S I P took the other split in the event for freshman colt and gelding trotters, known as the Hickory Pride. Global Pandemic, winner of both previous career starts, hustled to the point but yielded to Keg Stand, who entered the Hickory Pride off a Pennsylvania All-Stars triumph. The son of Bar Hopping and Palm Beach Bi kept to his task for Dexter Dunn, defeating Global Pandemic by a half length in a sharp 1:55.1. Parola Hanover finished third. ....
Crystal Fashion sat behind pacesetter Big Oil, moved out midway on the far turn, and trotted right away from the rest of the field to win the $16,200 feature at Harrah’s Philadelphia in 1:52.4 on Thursday afternoon (July 8) and give driver Tim Tetrick one of seven wins on the card. Big Oil, a world champion and winner of three of his last four, cleared Crystal Fashion in a :26.4 first quarter before rating a :56.4 half. After sitting second through three-quarters in 1:24.4, Tetrick knew his horse was full of forward motion, so he pulled him out, and the pair stormed into the lead coming into the stretch. Big Oil lasted for second, 4-1/4 lengths behind the victorious Cantab Hall gelding, who lifted his lifetime earnings to $2,045,318 for trainer Jim Campbell and Fashion Farms LLC. ....

Keg Stand and Global Pandemic were the winners in two $37,500 divisions of a Pennsylvania All-Stars event for two-year-old trotting colts at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Monday afternoon, as the freshmen saw their first stakes action at the mountain oval in 2021. Keg Stand, a colt by Bar Hopping–Palm Beach Bi, was kept just off the upfront action by Dexter Dunn as Big Miles gave way to S I P nearing the :28.1 quarter; Whiskey Hanover came out in front of the stands and took over the top before the :58.1 half. Dunn moved Keg Stand first-over and was in gear going to the 1:27.1 three-quarters, and through the stretch Keg Stand had too much while finishing his mile in 1:55.4 for a maiden mark. S I P rallied for second, 1-1/4 lengths behind Keg Stand, who is trained by Nancy Takter for Black Horse Racing, Christina Takter and John Fielding. ....
