Police received six accidental 911 calls through the week, including a pocket dial on April 27 around 6 p.m. When police called the phone back, its owner was on the golf course with no emergency. 
Around 10:15 a.m. on April 28, police received a report of a truck driving through town spilling some type of fuel. When an officer found the vehicle, it was determined that less than 5 gallons of diesel fuel had leaked out. According to the report, this did not require any further emergency response.  
Police were asked to escort a large boat from Mountain View Road to the Hinckley Yachts boatyard on Shore Road around noon on April 29. An escort was provided.  ....

No one was injured in an accident on Route 3 around 4:30 p.m. on April 20 that resulted in a damaged driver’s side mirror. A 2015 Ford Truck owned by Gott and Sons Inc. and driven by Christopher Carney, 32, was in the double lane near the Bar Harbor Airport when another truck passed him and hit the driver’s side mirror. Carney told the responding officer that the other driver did not stop. 
A woman called the sheriff’s office on Friday around 4 p.m. to report what she believed to be a Facebook scam. After an officer spoke to her, he found no crime had been committed but documented the information at the woman’s request.  ....

No one was injured in a single car accident on Route 3 around 11 a.m. on April 14. Joseph Parsons, 45, of Trenton, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius northbound. As it neared the intersection of Jordan River Road, the car drifted off the right side of the road. When it did, it struck a curb and then a wooden fence. There was reportable damage to the front end of the Prius. No reason for the accident was stated in the report.    
According to police reports, a woman was taken to the hospital around 8:45 p.m. on April 14 after the vehicle she was driving ran into a telephone pole, snapping the pole in half. Erika Sargent, 30, of Ellsworth, told police she was distracted with her cell phone when the 1999 Toyota Rav4 she was driving crossed the center line of Route 3 and went into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Track meet volunteers 
BAR HARBOR The Mount Desert Island track team is still looking for volunteers looking to assist with its first three meets. 
MDI will be hosting meets April 24, May 1 and May 15. All three home meets are scheduled to begin at noon, though volunteers may be asked to arrive early for meet preparation and other responsibilities. 
Volunteers will be assigned tasks such as marking throws, resetting poles following jumping events, measuring distances and raking sandpits. Those who wish to help will be asked to wear masks in accordance with CDC and Maine Principals’ Association guidelines. 
Prospective volunteers may sign up to work all three meets or volunteer on an individual basis. For more information or to volunteer, contact MDI High School Dean of Students Ian Braun via email at [email protected] or via phone at 288-5011.  ....

Young hiker found safe
ELLSWORTH — A 12-year-old girl whose mother called police Monday after the daughter was late returning from a hike was located safely by a family member.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, a Sullivan woman reported that her daughter had not come home from a hike.
Deputies responded to the scene and were assisted by the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service. Sullivan Fire and Rescue crews also responded to assist in the search.
The girl’s uncle had gone to look for her on the trail system she typically walks on. He found her not long after law enforcement arrived on scene.  ....
