The 2021 TEXSOM International Wine Awards attracted almost 2,400 entries from 29 countries including the USA where 16 states had wines entered into the competition. The 44 wine judges sipped, slurped, swished and spat these wine during the judging on April 25, 26 and 27 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas.
Teams of these hand-picked, renowned wine judge tasted and judged about 70 to 80 wines per day. After the end of the wine spitting, judges awarded 89 Platinum Medals (equivalent to a Double Gold Medal), 189 Gold Medals, 731 Silver Medals, and 805 Bronze Medals. TEXSOM International Wine Awards announces the results for the 2021 Awards, which took place April 25-27th at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. The Awards garnered nearly 2,400 entries representing 29 countries and 16 US states. Suggested retail pricing of medal-winning entries ranged from US $2.50 to over US $300.00. 
As a benefit to entrants, TEXSOM IWA enlisted the expertise and wisdom of judges from around the country and a professional production team to ensure accuracy and care for every beverage entered in the competition. Voices of those in the industry who work in restaurants and retail were invited to a behind the scenes opportunity called TEXSOM retreat to uniquely market Award winners. Retreat participants received mentorship from experienced writers and journalists on creating professional tasting notes that will showcase award-winning entrants in Featured ....

FINALIST: Wangolina owner, winemaker and vigneron Anita Goode has been selected as a finalist in the Young Gun of Wine Awards. ?
TWO Limestone Coast residents have been shortlisted as 50 finalists in the 2021 Young Gun of Wine Awards. 
Coonawarra’s Penley Estate winemaker Lauren Hensen and Wangolina owner and vigneron Anita Goode were selected after two days of intensive judging by a panel of leading industry figures from across the country.
The Goode family have farmed the land of Wangolina Station since 1923 after arriving in Mount Benson in the late 19th century. 


Vines were planted on the sprawling property in 1999, with cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and sauvignon blanc going into the ground and the first wines were made in 2001. ....

$37,500 given to Australian women in wine to advance their careers

Women in the Australian wine industry have been given financial support to advance their careers, thanks to the funds raised from a wine named Hear Me Roar.
Hear Me Roar, a multi-region, premium South Australian Shiraz from the 2018 vintage, was a project undertaken by the board of the Australian Women in Wine Awards (AWIWA).
It was released mid-2019 and the 400 cases that were made sold-out in under four weeks, with 100% of profits going to the career advancement of women in the wine industry.
It’s the first time anywhere in the world a wine has been created and made by women, to raise money for women in wine. ....

Dan Murphy’s Decoded Wine Awards 2021 winners revealed

Dan Murphy’s has revealed the winners of its 2021 Decoded Wine Awards, after 12 experts tasted over 1000 wines.
“As wine experts, our judging panellists keenly follow the results of domestic and international wine shows. However, the majority of wine lovers simply want to find the right wine for the right occasion, which is what Decoded Wine Awards is all about,” said Dan Murphy’s head of fine wine and chair of the Decoded judging panel Andrew Shedden.
“In judging the wines, we have stripped back confusing tasting notes like ‘muscular’ or ‘herbaceous’ and instead focused on why we love these wines and how to best enjoy them to help guide our customers. The Dan Murphy’s Decoded Wine Awards are for wine lovers, not experts,” he added. ....
