Six Bangladeshi American organisations urged US Department of State to declare Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh a terrorist outfit and to ban the organisation immediately.
The six organisations USA Bangabandhu Parishad, USA Committee for Secular and Democratic Bangladesh, Forum for Secular Bangladesh and Trial of War Criminals of 1971, Bangabandhu Foundation USA Chapter, Sector Commander Forum USA Chapter and Bangladesh Liberation War Veterans, USA jointly sent a memorandum in this regard to Antony John Blinken, secretary of state of US Department of State.
In the statement, they said the leaders of Hefajat-e-Islam say the organisation is a religious one but their activities seem like terrorist outfits. ....

Several organisations of Bangladeshi freedom fighters living in the US have urged Secretary of State Antony Blinken to designate Hifazat-e Islam as a terrorist organisation.

They sent copies of the memorandum to the Department of Homeland Security and the foreign affairs committees of the Congress on Wednesday in the wake a series of violence over years, said Nuran Nabi, president of USA Bangabandhu Parishad.

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad president and freedom fighter Ayesha Khanam a guardian of the women s movement in Bangladesh, who dedicated her life to the rights of deprived, oppressed and disenfranchised women breathed her last early yesterday.
She was 74.
An integral part of the women s movement in Bangladesh, her message to her fellow countrywomen was to stand their own grounds and develop an uncompromising attitude so that they can take their own responsibilities and decisions.

European Bangladesh Forum (EBF), a Europe-based diaspora organisation organised a virtual conference on “Bangabandhu’s Political philosophy & Vision: Peace and Threats of Radicalization in Bangladesh and the Region on December 19.
The conference was scheduled to be organised at the Geneva Press Club in Geneva ON 19 March 2020, but due to Covid-19 it had to be postponed.
Speakers from across Europe addressed the virtual conference which was hosted by the London-based British Bangla News Channel and was live on its website and YouTube.
Speakers in the conference expressed their concern at the rise of radicalism again in the South Asia saying, ‘many in South Asia are fearing the rise of radicalism again. Pakistan’s ultra-nationalists in the military and their allies in the Taliban are finding their feet.’ ....
