“As a city, we ask a lot of Copley Square,” said B Chatfield, the city manager for the project, at the meeting. “We’ve got First Night there, we’ve got the Boston Marathon, we’ve got our well-loved farmer’s market, the largest one in Boston. Fall River and New Bedford mark Earth Day with cleanups and a movie


NEW BEDFORD As the world returns to normal, we can t go back to business-as-usual, proclaims the national Earth Day organization on its website.
This year marks the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, and while national events will be held virtually again because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are some local things happening to celebrate and move on the group s theme this year: Restore Our Earth.
Captain Jack Peterson Dog Park, 111 Greenwood Street in New Bedford will host a clean up of the park on Saturday, April 24 beginning at 10 a.m. Rain date is Sunday. Volunteers with collect rubbish in and around the park as well doing some weeding. Feel free to bring garden tools.  ....

“A culture, we all know, is made by cities,” Derek Walcott said in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech. Walcott spent many years teaching at Boston University, so it would be nice to think that Boston was at least somewhere in the poet’s mind when he wrote those words, in 1992.
This city has changed enormously in the nearly three decades since — Big Dig, Seaport, the list goes on — but nothing like the changes that may await all cities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

Boston, MA - Boston Design Week returns April 28 – May 9 for its 8th annual festival,  featuring 50+ virtual and outdoor events, including the annual Design Week Awards on Friday May 7th.  Under the theme “Spring Forward!”, this 12-day design festival offers a range of virtual programs featuring nationally-known guest speakers, panel discussions, behind-the-scenes tours and more.  A special festival section titled “Landscape Design and Outdoor Life” will offer live outdoor events such as walking tours, architectural site visits, and landscape design explorations.  All events are open to the public and FREE.
