Neil Tomlin OBE, Hall Grove School A NEW headteacher has been appointed to a school near south Bracknell. Neil Tomlin OBE, aged 45, has been named as the new headmaster of Hall Grove school, Bagshot, and is set to take on the role from September 1. Alastair Graham, current headmaster and soon-to-be principal, said: “Hall Grove is a unique school, founded on a strong set of family values, and it is no exaggeration to say that it has been my life’s work over the past forty years. I am exceptionally proud of where the school is today, and Neil is the perfect person now to lead our community into the next stage of our development. ....
Scots need to hear a positive case for the Union SIR – The plan for the “PM to charm Scots” (report, January 26) sounds a much better approach than the negative Remain strategy during the run-up to the EU referendum. The case made then was all about what we had to lose by leaving, and not about what we had to gain by staying in the EU. So please, Mr Johnson, make the positive case for the Union and let everyone know on which side their oatcakes are buttered. Ian France

The owner of a dangerous dog that bit a woman s hand leaving her without feeling in her fingers had his case struck out after he paid €1,000 in compensation. Adam Derlega (36) did not have a muzzle on his Staffordshire Bull Terrier and did not keep his dog under control while out walking at Martello Tower in Balbriggan contrary to the Control of Dogs Regulations. The defendant s dog, whose breed is on the list of dangerous dogs, bit Jean Ferris left hand. However, he and the dog did not remain in the area afterwards. The defendant, of Baron s Hall Grove in Balbriggan, Co Dublin pleaded guilty to having no dog licence, no muzzle on the dog in a public place and failing to keep control of his dog in a public place on April 22 at Martello Tower in Balbriggan. ....
